On July 23, 2025, at around 7:30 PM, a fire broke out along the interstate in the White County area.
Mayor Seth Connell of Fairfield Bay announced the incident on social media, praising a swift response by a truckdriver. Connell spotted the fire while driving home from Jonesboro. The extremely dry conditions posed a significant risk of the fire spreading.
Thankfully, a truck driver named Auren Taylor heroically intervened, using a fire extinguisher to contain the blaze. His quick action prevented the fire from reaching a nearby field.
Taylor told Connell:
“We definitely don’t need any forest fires. It’s too damn dry!”
Connell asked Taylor if he knew of Fairfield Bay, noting its reputation for bass fishing. Taylor confirmed he was familiar with the area.
In gratitude, Connell arranged a free weekend stay for Taylor at a Fairfield Bay hotel and the Fairfield Bay Community Club Resort.
The community celebrates Taylor’s heroism and welcomes him to enjoy his stay. Fairfield Bay appreciates good people like Auren Taylor. The town looks forward to hosting him for a well-deserved getaway.
