Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has appointed Jamie Anderson of Lonoke to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. The announcement came Wednesday afternoon at AGFC headquarters in Little Rock. Anderson, a fourth-generation aquaculture farmer, will serve a seven-year term, replacing outgoing commissioner J.D. Neeley of Camden, whose term ended June 30.

Anderson is vice president of I.F. Anderson Farms Inc., also known as Anderson Minnow Farm—the world’s largest producer of minnows, supplying over one billion baitfish annually across more than 40 states. His appointment brings deep expertise in wildlife, aquaculture, and natural resource management to the commission.

“I’ve been lucky enough to call Jamie and his wife Elizabeth friends for years,” said Governor Sanders. “Jamie’s knowledge of wildlife and conservation policy will be a great asset to Arkansas. I have no doubt he will approach this appointment with strong leadership and a servant heart.”

Anderson began working on the family farm at age 12 and holds a master’s degree in agricultural business from the University of Arkansas. His professional resume includes leadership roles with the National Aquaculture Association, Arkansas Farm Bureau, and several state and national conservation boards.

During the announcement, Anderson became emotional while thanking his family, particularly his wife, father, and two sons.

“Anyone who knows me knows that I eat, sleep, and breathe the outdoors,” he said. “It’s not just what I do in my free time; it’s my life’s work.”

A founding member of the Arkansas Waterfowl Association, Anderson is also deeply involved in conservation education for youth. He praised AGFC’s efforts to engage young Arkansans through initiatives like the School of Conservation Leadership and youth shooting sports programs.

“The most important resource is our youth,” Anderson said. “Keeping young people connected to the outdoors doesn’t just give them a better life—it secures the future of conservation.”

Anderson’s appointment runs through June 30, 2032.
