Police in Arkansas are worried victims are remaining silent.

Benton Police Department reports a sharp rise in “sextortion” cases, particularly among juveniles. Adults are also increasingly targeted by these schemes. But authorities say they worry that victims are not stepping forward after being targeted.

Police In Arkansas Concerned Victims, Especially Children, Are Not Reporting Incidents

Many victims may not have reported incidents, authorities suspect. Police urge anyone affected to come forward immediately.

Sextortion involves criminals coercing victims into sharing explicit content or money. The crime often exploits vulnerable individuals through online platforms.

Benton Police encourage reporting to local law enforcement first. Victims can contact BNPD detectives at 501-776-5947. They wrote:

“Chances are, there are victims who haven’t even come forward. We encourage anyone who has been a victim of this or any other crime to first report it to your local law enforcement agency.”

The department is raising awareness to combat this growing threat. More information is available through official police resources.

Community vigilance is critical, officials say. Prompt reporting can help stop perpetrators.

Police stress that no victim should feel ashamed. Please help spread awareness and let potential victims know they are not alone.
