Railroad crossings, stop all cars!

On May 14, 2025, the Conway Police Department partnered with Union Pacific Railroad Police for an UP CARES Operation. The joint effort aimed to promote rail safety and address dangerous behavior at railroad crossings.

Special Police Project Launched To Increase Safety Around Trains

The operation focused on educating the public about the risks of ignoring warning signals. Lights and bells indicate a train is approaching, leaving no time to cross safely.

During the event, an officer rode inside a locomotive to identify drivers and pedestrians disregarding signals. Other officers issued citations or warnings to those attempting to beat the train.

The Conway Police emphasized the importance of never trying to outrun a train. They urged the community to always expect a train at crossings.

This initiative highlighted the UP CARES program’s mission to enhance rail safety. More details about the program are available through Union Pacific’s official resources.
