On Wednesday, April 15, the Arkansas SkillsUSA State Championships were held in Hot Springs. SkillsUSA is a national organization empowering students to excel in skilled trades, technical careers, and health occupations.
Among the many competitions was the Audio Radio category, judged by ArkansasRadio.com’s own Todd Scott. Over 100 contests showcased students’ hands-on training and expertise.
A major highlight of the event was the presentation of the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award—given for the first time since 2016. One of this year’s recipients was Ben Johnson, radio broadcasting instructor at Cave City High School, and a familiar voice on ArkansasRadio.com’s The Bull 105.7 and Cowboy Country 100.7 KEAZ.
Ben has been instrumental in guiding students through SkillsUSA since 2005. Under his leadership, Cave City’s broadcasting program has earned numerous state medals and produced four nationally medaling teams.
Congratulations to Ben Johnson on this incredible honor and his continued dedication to student success in broadcasting!
