It’s not real.

Izard County Sheriff’s Department issued a warning online after photos were emerging on social media claiming a “serial killer” and his wife were attacking people after “gaining your trust.” Law enforcement say the posts are fake and have popped up in several communities. You can view photos from the posts below.

No “Serial Killer” Couple On The Loose Targeting People

The Izard County Sheriff’s Office addressed a misleading social media post on February 21, 2025. The post falsely claimed Avalos Fillipe and Vasquez Stephanie were wanted for killing three police officers in a nearby county.

Authorities confirmed the information is entirely untrue. They urged the public to disregard the alarming claims.

The sheriff’s office warned that such posts are designed to spread fear and confusion. They noted these hoaxes often circulate widely to provoke unrest.

Similar posts with the same names and photos have appeared across multiple states, authorities said. The fabricated crimes are typically tailored to local towns to seem credible.

Officials encouraged people to search social media for duplicates of such posts. This can help identify and debunk these recurring falsehoods quickly.
