A sad break-up reportedly led to a devastating police incident in Heber Springs, Arkansas.
John Robert Catt, 35, of Heber Springs, was arrested on January 23rd, 2025 following a series of criminal acts on November 21, 2024. The incident involved his former girlfriend, with whom he had recently ended a relationship, leading to his eviction from their shared home. Details were included in sworn testimony by an officer connected to the case.
Bad Break-Up Leads To Crime In Heber Springs
John Catt, his girlfriend and another man were living together. John Catt and his girlfriend later broke up, with the ex-girlfriend only living with the other man.
According to police connected to the case, John Catt showed back up at the house and reportedly attacked the other man:
“[The other man] stated that he woke up and found John Catt standing next to his bed, staring at him…”
According to case files, Catt faces charges including residential burglary, terroristic threatening, battery, theft, and interfering with emergency communications. The incident began when Catt allegedly entered a home on W. Searcy St. without permission. There, he assaulted Xander Bates, who was living at the residence.
Catt is accused of taking Bates’ cell phone after the assault, damaging it, and leaving the scene. He had previously made threats to Bates, which were reported to the police.
Security footage and witness statements confirmed Catt’s presence at the scene. His actions led to his arrest warrant being issued by the Cleburne County District Court.
Catt was not located immediately after the incident but was eventually arrested. The investigation continues as more details emerge.
