On Friday night, the Fairfield Bay city council made a unanimous decision to save the local campground.
The vote comes after more than a year of debate regarding campground management and lease issues.
The council approved a special 3-year lease with the Corps of Engineers by a 5-0 vote after a meeting called by the mayor.
Mayor Seth Connell expressed his gratitude in a written statement:
“This is just another reminder that social media rumors are not always truth. Actions speak louder than words. I’m so proud of the city council for coming together to make this all happen.”
Mayor Connell thanked council members Patti Leitner, Roger Hooper, Doyle Scroggins, Ruth Krotz, and Bella Comas for their unity and action.
