It was a unanimous decision by the Fairfield Bay city council. All 5 council members voted to confirm him.
Seth Jordan Connell, just 25, was appointed mayor of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas and sworn in on December 12th, 2024.
After the decision, Connell released the following statement:
“As mayor of Fairfield Bay, I promise that I will not lean on my own understanding. I’m well aware of the huge responsibility that has been given to me.”
Seth promised to bring dignified discussion back to Fairfield Bay politics:
“It’s time for unity. But more importantly, it’s time for civility.”

Connell was later joined by the new Community Club General Manger Rory Bradley, who gave the following statement to Lake Area Weekly:
“I look forward to working with Seth with the challenges that lay before us and working hand in hand to move Fairfield Bay and the residents forward.”
Van Buren County Judge Dales James also congratulated the new mayor, stating:
“I’m excited about the youthful vigor that Seth brings to Fairfield Bay and Van Buren County. As with anything else, when the tide is high the ships float higher and I feel that is where we are headed.”
