According to Benton Police Department, residents in the area are getting scam emails claiming that the recipient was in violation of traffic laws and needed to pay a fine. A photograph was provided of the scam emails. Don’t fall for it.
Fake Speeding Ticket Scam
Reports have surfaced of emails claiming recipients have traffic violations and must pay within 72 hours – this is a scam.
Traffic tickets are issued by officers in person, and all related matters are dealt with in court, not through email.
Do not disclose personal or financial information to such emails.
