The North Little Rock Fire Department addressed what happened on social media, revealing that the smoke came from a composting facility in the area:
“If you’ve been out at all today, you may have spotted a large amount of white smoke in North Little Rock towards the east. It’s most likely coming from a compost fire at a composting facility at 11911 Faulkner Lake Rd.”
Apparently, the situation led to multiple representatives with the North Little Rock Fire Department and the Arkansas Forestry Commission arrived on the scene:
“The North Little Rock Fire Department responded quickly and is working with property representatives to manage the situation safely. A representative from the Arkansas Forestry Commission responded as well to assess the situation and provided guidance.”
Thankfully, there is no risk in the area:
“There is no risk of the fire spreading, and it remains contained to the compost material. The property owners and representatives are monitoring the situation closely and will remain on the scene throughout the evening and upcoming days until the fire is completely extinguished. While it may appear alarming from a distance, there is no danger to nearby structures or the surrounding community.”
