Independence County Library is hosting a vital presentation on General Child Abuse Awareness on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the Janis M. Walmsley Meeting Room. This informative session will cover the diverse types of child abuse, potential indicators to recognize each type, and essential steps to take if a child discloses abuse.
Debbie Strother, Forensic Interviewer, Educational Specialist, and Program Manager at The Children’s Advocacy Center of Independence County will lead the event. Strother will provide attendees with knowledge on how to manage disclosures of abuse and how to report suspected or confirmed child abuse effectively.
The Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) of Independence County is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering, protecting, and healing child abuse victims and their families. The CAC provides a range of free services in a safe and child-friendly environment, including forensic interviews, medical exams, mental health therapy, and advocacy. The center serves Independence, Sharp, Stone, Izard, and Fulton counties, offering free community education services to schools, churches, and organizations.
