It’s getting attention all over the internet and television in Missouri.
But the event has a connection to Arkansas!
An 8-year-old girl is now safe and out of the hospital after saving a child drowning in a hotel pool. But the woman who saved the 8 year old with CPR is a native of Batesville, Arkansas!
In a private conversation with the family of the CPR-certified hero, Arkansas Radio was told not only is she a Batesville native, but she even learned to swim on the Batesville swim team at the College Pool.
CPR-Certified Woman Saved Child’s Life
The Posey family from Tennessee was staying at the Eureka Holiday Inn Saint Louis West at Six Flags when a frightening incident unfolded in the pool.
Kaylyn Posey, a second-grader, tried to help her 6-year-old cousin but ended up needing rescue herself.
Candice Posey witnessed her daughter, Kaylyn, lying motionless at the bottom of the pool. In a panic, she jumped in fully clothed, managed to pull Kaylyn out, who was blue and unconscious, marking it as the worst moment of Candice’s life.
Shalaine Harmon, Kaylyn’s CPR-certified cousin, immediately began rescue breathing. Shailaine’s quick actions were credited with saving Kaylyn’s life, who after receiving CPR, started to vomit and regain consciousness.
According to Shalaine, who was raised in Batesville, Arkansas for many years before moving out of state:
“I wasn’t thinking of any of that. I just did it. You know it was all in one swift motion. I don’t know how. It just happened.”
