Lyon College Gospel Choir sets ‘Sing Praise’ Spring Concert

The Lyon College Gospel Choir, under the direction of Barretta Robinson, will present its spring concert, “Sing Praise,” on Sunday, April 21, at 3 p.m. in the Sloan Auditorium of Brown Fine Arts Building on the Lyon College campus, 2300 Highland Rd., Batesville.

The concert will feature guest performances by Prevail of Arkansas of Jonesboro, Anointed Dancers of Praise of Wynne, and Jackie Cunningham Sr. and Musicians of Forrest City.

The Lyon College Gospel Choir will perform “Every Praise” by Hezekiah Walker, “Gratitude” by Brandon Lake, “Everybody Clap Your Hands” by Kirk Franklin with sign language by Latoya Garza, and “The Blood Still Works” by Malcolm Williams.

The program will include an opening of worship by Pastor Maurice Tatum of Sand Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Little Rock. Lyon College Gospel Choir member Sheila Avant will offer a welcome. Choir Director Barretta Robinson will present a prayer and closing remarks.

The Lyon College Gospel Choir is a vocal ensemble open to students and community members regardless of their faith. The ensemble performs a variety of song forms drawn from the African American religious tradition, including traditional and contemporary gospel, anthems and spirituals. Under the direction of Barretta Robinson, the choir is devoted to using its art not only to entertain, but also to worship.
