The Frederick Van Patten Searcy Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) presented a conservation award to Arkansas State University-Beebe Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and faculty sponsors for their work on the monarch butterfly garden on the Beebe campus. Joylynn Edwards (right), regent for the NSDAR Frederick Van Patten Chapter, presented the award to faculty members (from left) Jerry Sites, assistant professor of agriculture, Eddie Supratman, assistant professor of history and comparative religion and Meredith Gordon, assistant professor of biology. The award recognizes adult and youth volunteers for their sustaining efforts to improve the environment or educate the public on conservation issues. The monarch butterfly garden is sponsored by the ASU-Beebe PTK honor society and made possible through the Vanguard Mini-Grant program, which is funded by a generous donation from Cathy Eoff and Eoff & Associates Realty, Inc. The goal of the garden is to protect, conserve and increase habitats for the monarch butterfly and other native insect pollinators, as well as provide a space for relaxation and enjoyment of the outdoors on the Beebe campus.  For more information about programs offered at ASU-Beebe, call (501) 882-3600 or view the website at www.asub.edu.
