Officials in Arkansas have been forced to take drastic measures

According to Resident News Network, avian influenza, commonly known as bird flu, has been discovered in cows. The disturbing illness is causing Arkansas officials to restrict transportation into the state.

Arkansas Attorney General Implements Emergency Restrictions

The Department of Agriculture has implemented an emergency order to restrict livestock into the state of Arkansas that exhibit signs of illness.

Thankfully, Dustan Clark, extension poultry health veterinarian for the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture, says it’s going well:

“So far, we’re doing quite well. I won’t say we’re safe. We need everyone to maintain good biosecurity practices.”

The news comes after the same “bird flu” was spotted among Arkansas poultry late last year.
