White River Medical Center (WRMC) will host a free Prostate Cancer Screening on Tuesday, September 23, from 5–8 p.m. at WRMC in Batesville.
The screening is offered in partnership with Drs. Hunter Brown, Robert Emery, Thomas Soehner, and Joel Ubeda of White River Health Surgery Clinic.
September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. According to the American Cancer Society, prostate cancer is the most common cancer among U.S. men and the second leading cause of cancer death. Screenings are recommended beginning at age 50, or earlier for those at higher risk, including African American men and men with an immediate relative who has had prostate cancer.
The American Cancer Society estimates that over 313,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2025. When detected early, localized prostate cancer has a five-year survival rate of nearly 100%.
While the event is free, appointments are required. To schedule, call (870) 262-1834.
The White River Health Surgery Clinic offers multiple treatment options for men diagnosed with prostate cancer, and patients are encouraged to consult a Urologist about the best plan for their needs.
