A major rule just got blocked that could have weakened grass-roots level Republicans in the state.

According to Conduit News, a controversial rule has been blocked that would have increased the number of votes required at the Arkansas Republican State Convention to adopt rule changes and platform resolutions. This would have been a disaster for grassroots level Republicans. Over 300 members of the GOP gathered in Little Rock and finally struck down the rule before it was implemented.

Rule Targeting Grassroots Republicans Stopped

Although the name might sound unfamiliar, the Arkansas State Convention closely represents the state’s Republican grassroots (county committees).

Around 300 members of the Republican Party of Arkansas gathered in Little Rock Saturday on May 18th to discuss the controversial rule. The rule was finally defeated at the State Committee Meeting.
