Jason Rapert fired back saying there’s nothing wrong with liking the historic flag!

Jason Rapert Attacked For Supporting George Washington Flag

It all started when former Arkansas Times senior editor Max Brantley suggested there was something wrong with Jason Rapert for praising the “An Appeal To Heaven” flag that was flown by George Washington.

Brantley wrote on Twitter along with photographs of Jason Rapert holding the flag:

“Was latest Alito flag scandal not considered newsworthy by the local ‘paper’?”

Jason Rapert fired back that his love of the flag was not a “scandal,” but instead an appeal to historic tradition of our country’s forefathers:

“What scandal? It’s an historic flag. I had two of them flown over the Arkansas State Capitol in 2015 to honor George Washington on his birthday. Some say it was the first time since the American Revolutionary War that a state Capitol raised the flags officially. It was an honor and a privilege!”

Rapert shared photographs of him over the years trying to create awareness of the flag’s history.

An Appeal To Heaven Flag History

So what’s the story behind the “Appeal To Heaven” flag? It’s origins go all the way back to America’s founding.

It was originally designed by Colonel Joseph Reed, who served as the personal secretary to George Washington. George Washington also reportedly took part in the dseign personally.

George Washington himself  chose the Pine Tree as a symbol of independence along with words referencing the power of God.
