Get ready. A whopping 200,000 Arkansans could lose access to the internet.

According to KKYR, next week will be the “cut-off” date for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). It expires at the end of April. People will be left without an internet connection.

Internet “Cut Off” Coming For Arkansans

The Federal Communications Commission created a program that helps households be eligible for internet connectivity by giving them a one-time discount.

Sadly, the program expires next week. According to the FCC:

“The Affordable Connectivity Program stopped accepting new applications and enrollments on February 7, 2024. The last fully funded month of the program is April 2024.”

That means that a possible 210,727 Arkansas residents may lose access to their internet connection.

Thankfully, there are workarounds for people who are eligible.

If you’re being shut off, you can apply for something called a “lifeline” from the FCC.

If you or anyone you know needs help getting internet access, please tell them.
