She was accused of switching tags on Walmart items before running away.
Melanie Sanders-McCool, 32, of Conway, AR, was arrested on February 13th, 2025 in Faulkner County. The charge stems from an incident on November 20, 2024, where she allegedly stole property from a local Walmart.
Walmart Tag Changing Could End In Felony
According to police reports, Sanders-McCool was seen switching tags on bedsheets and leaving the store without paying. When confronted, she dropped the items and fled the scene in a red Nissan Altima.
Investigations confirmed her identity through video footage and prior encounters with law enforcement.
Sanders-McCool has a history of theft, with convictions in 2016 and 2022. Due to the previous infractions, she faces a felony.
The charge is classified as a Class D felony due to her previous theft convictions.
As a result, she has been denied bond.
