A big event for the city of Batesville, Arkansas!
Lyon College just held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new football stadium this Friday, Jan. 31, at 12 p.m. The event took place at the Lyon College football complex located at 2300 Highland Rd., Batesville. The plan has been in the works for over 10 years!
It’s Been In The Works Since 2013
The new stadium marks a significant addition to the campus facilities. It is expected to be ready for the Scots’ first home game of the 2025 season, scheduled for Sept. 13.
The ceremony included speeches from college officials and local dignitaries. This project aims to enhance both the sports and community engagement aspects of the college.
The construction of the stadium has been a much-anticipated development. It represents Lyon College’s commitment to its athletic programs and student life.
In an interview with ArkansasRadio.com, Kevin Jenkins, Lyon College’s Director of Athletics said the plan has been in development for quite some time:
“It was a vision that our leadership had then [2013]… we were able to partner with the city and our community leaders to actually make it happen.”
