Chavez-Rangel faces charges including Interference with Emergency Communications 1st Degree, Aggravated Assault on a Family or Household Member, and Domestic Battery 3rd.
For context, “Emergency Communications 1st Degree” is a crime where someone intentionally stops another from making an emergency call by damaging or disabling their communication device, considered a serious misdemeanor.
Chavez-Rangel also has a detainer from USMS/ICE. This means that someone from US Marshals Service or Immigration Customs Enforcement has requested that local law enforcement hold the individual in custody beyond their scheduled release time. You can learn more about detainers here.
Chavez-Rangel’s bond has been set at $45,000 due to the seriousness of the alleged crimes.
