A man has reportedly died in Rose Bud, Arkansas after being shot.
On November 29, 2024, at 9:04 pm, White County Dispatch received a ‘shots fired’ call from Violet Holifield, stating her husband Gary Knight was shot at their home. The following details were released by the White County Sheriff’s Office.

Knight was found injured and later died at Unity Health Hospital – ER in Searcy.
Witnesses at the scene gave statements to investigators.
James Trenton Barley, the neighbor, admitted to the shooting and was detained by deputies at his residence. According to police:
“Barley provided a verbal statement of his involvement and deliberate actions to Investigators at the scene. Additionally, a search and seizure warrant was secured and executed at Barley’s residence and property which extended into the morning hours of November 30, 2024. Several items related to this incident, including firearms and ballistics were identified, collected, and secured as evidence from the property.“
Barley was arrested, charged with First-degree Murder, and the investigation continues with evidence sent for forensic analysis.
