A 68-year-old Melbourne man, Gary Raney, died in a single-vehicle crash in Izard County on Saturday afternoon. According to an Arkansas State Police report, Raney was driving a 2004 Jeep southbound on State Highway 9 when he left the roadway, crossed a private drive, and crashed into a tree in a wooded area. The Jeep came to a stop in the woods facing south. Trooper Nathan Masterson reported that the weather was clear and the road was dry at the time of the 3 p.m. accident.
