Douglas Mohler, previously from Hempstead County, Arkansas, now faces federal charges in Texarkana for wire fraud.
The indictment, recently unsealed, accuses Mohler of defrauding investors out of substantial sums through a poultry house roof coating business.
Mohler allegedly lured investors with promises of significant returns from a venture that promised to install reflective roof coatings on poultry houses to reduce internal temperatures. However, after receiving investments, Mohler reportedly ceased communication, leaving investors in the lurch.
Among the victims, an investor from Lewisville lost $100,000 in 2018, while another expected a return on a $300,000 investment in 2019, which never materialized. Mohler’s scheme also allegedly involved taking deposits from farm customers for services never rendered.
Mohler was arrested in Minnesota and has been ordered to appear for arraignment in Texarkana, where he will face charges related to his alleged fraudulent activities.
