It’s official.

According to KATV, officials with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission are concerned about a new wave of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD). They’re spotting more and more animals with the disease.

Chronic Wasting Disease

It’s a disease found in deer, elk, and moose. It ultimately leads to death for the animals after drooling and straggering.

It spreads through urine, feces and saliva.

Chronic Wasting Disease was first discovered in Arkansas in 2016. Since that time, the number of cases continues to grow.

Each year, the number of cases increases. Cases of the diseases were up to 236 cases from 217 last fiscal year. It was zero in 2015.

Cases of the disease have been spotted in at least 20 counties across the state.
