Arkansas State University-Beebe has announced the appointment of Searcy businessman Ed Covington to its Board of Visitors.
The Board of Visitors serves in an advisory role to the college’s chancellor, offering input on academic programs, community relations, and institutional priorities. Members are community leaders who volunteer their time to help strengthen the connection between ASU-Beebe and the region it serves.
Covington, a 1988 graduate of Searcy High School, completed the auto body program at ASU-Beebe’s Searcy campus, formerly known as Foothills Technical Institute. Today, he owns several businesses across central Arkansas, including collision repair centers, an RV glass and repair center, and a vehicle service center.
“Ed Covington brings not only a wealth of entrepreneurial expertise, but also a strong dedication to serving his community and supporting higher education,” said Dr. Jennifer Methvin, ASU-Beebe chancellor. “We are grateful for his commitment to ASU-Beebe and look forward to the perspective and leadership he will contribute as a member of our Board of Visitors.”
In addition to his business success, Covington has held a number of civic and professional leadership roles. He is a member of the Searcy Rotary Club, past president of the Searcy Regional Chamber of Commerce, an advisory board member of Pulaski Technical Institute’s automotive technology program, a board member of ASU-Beebe’s Searcy campus Adult Education program, and past president of the Arkansas Collision Repair Association.
Covington and his wife, Bridget, live in Searcy. They have two children and four grandchildren.
