A small earthquake has been confirmed near Searcy, Arkansas. It happened on January 24th.

A 1.8 magnitude earthquake struck 17 km from Bald Knob, Arkansas, on Friday, January 24, 2025.  Searcy is only 13 miles away from Bald Knob.

The USGS reported the quake as magnitude type ‘md’ and it was reviewed by a seismologist.

No public reports of the tremor have been recorded, indicating it may have gone unnoticed.

The exact location was described as 11 km south of Pleasant Plains, Arkansas.

Another earthquake was reported nearby on January 3rd.
