New ATM Scam Reported By Police In Arkansas

Local residents have reported receiving calls from individuals posing as deputies, claiming there’s a warrant for their arrest.

Victims are instructed to stay on the line while they visit a Bitcoin ATM to make payments to supposedly clear the warrant.

Be aware: No law enforcement agency will ask you to pay fines or clear warrants through Bitcoin or gift card purchases.

If you receive such a call, hang up immediately and contact the agency directly to verify the claim.

Cryptocurrency ATMs are a relatively new concept. They didn’t appear until the early 2010s and have slowly gained in popularity.

Be careful before sending payments to anyone. Always.
