They’re letting an 11th grader off the hook after a drug rule violation in Paragould, Arkansas.
A special meeting was held at Green County Tech School involving the expulsion of student that apparently involved multiple violations of Rule 10, Page 151 of the High School/Student handbook. They mysteriously decided to reverse the expulsion. You can see which rule was violated below.
Student Expulsion Reversed
The school board voted to reverse the expulsion of a student even though Rule 10 from page 151 was violated, which would require multiple drug rule violations to occur0.
The rules for expelling a student over drugs can be found written explicitly in the Green County Tech School District Handbook:
“Students buying, selling, under the influence, having possession, huffing/inhaling, receiving or dispensing of a controlled substance, prescribed medication, prescribed medication of another person, over-the-counter medication, illegal substance, look-alike substance, and other prohibited material during the regular school day and during extra-curricular activities. (Act 888 of 1995)”
Students that are found in violation of that rule face the following punishments if caught:
- “Recommendation for expulsion from school for the remainder of the semester with loss of credit for incidents occurring in the 1st and 3rd quarters.”
- “If the incident falls in the 2nd or 4th quarters, a recommendation for expulsion from school for the remainder of the current semester and the subsequent semester with a loss of credits.”
- “If a student is in possession of a vape, knowingly or unknowingly, that contains a banned substance that caused or can cause an adverse reaction, the student will be recommended for expulsion with loss of credits.”
Mysteriously, even after the supposed multiple drug violations, it appears that the student is off the hook anyway.
