Fairfield Bay declared September 23rd “Jack Owens Day” for a very good reason.
Jack Owens, a veteran who served in World War II, celebrated his 99th birthday at the Fairfield Bay Senior Community Center. His humor and positive energy led one observer to call him “sharp as a tack.” A huge crowd gathered to celebrate his wonderful birthday.

During the ceremony at the Fairfield Bay Senior Community Center, Owens said that God has protected him throughout his life:
“I’ve had the good Lord with me the whole trip.”
