It’s the end of an era.

The company’s drivers would stop at retirement communities like Fairfield Bay and surrounding areas. They sold ice cream and pre-made television dinners door to door from their refrigerated trucks.

It was called Schwan’s. You probably saw their trucks all across Arkansas. They’re going out of business. They’ve been in operation based out of Minnesota since 1952. Now it’s over.

Schwan’s Going Out Of Business

The company started in 1952 when Marvin Schwan, only 23 years old at the time, started delivering ice cream to rural families in Minnesota.

Today, Schwan’s Company is a multibillion-dollar private company with more than 8,500 employees. Now it’s all coming to an end.

They recently rebranded to Yelloh. Now it’s ceasing all operations by the end of the year. They say that the financial market is forcing it to close down.

Sadly, that means no ice cream deliveries to your door.

Schwan’s Had Trucks All Across Arkansas

Schwan’s trucks used to be seen in counties all across Arkansas. They were especially active in Cleburne and Van Buren County.
