Don’t try to shoot police officers.

Although the suspect probably thought the appeals system would work in his favor, it looks like justice is being served anyway.

The Arkansas Court of Appeals has affirmed the imprisonment of Phillip Jarrod Martin, who attempted to disarm a deputy and assaulted an officer during a domestic call in 2023. The court’s ruling was made public on September 4.

Appeals Court Reaches Verdict

Martin, previously convicted of first-degree battery in 2013, faced new charges that led to the revocation of his earlier sentence. These new offenses included multiple counts of battery.

In 2013, Martin received a 10-year sentence with an additional 10 years suspended. The state’s petition in May 2023 to revoke this suspension was due to his recent criminal activities.

The decision to uphold Martin’s imprisonment underscores the court’s stance on repeat offenders, particularly those who commit violent acts against law enforcement.
