A White County Deputy was involved in a one vehicle accident, as confirmed by Arkansas State Police.
Arkansas State Police Public Information Specialist Nick Genty has reportedly The Daily Citizen that around 8:30 a.m. Thursday, a White County Deputy, who was later learned to be Kevin Smith, “was involved in a one vehicle accident on Highway 67/167, near the 54 mile marker. The deputy was transporting three White County inmates when the accident occurred. The injury to the deputy was serious but not life-threatening. The three inmates were also injured but not life-threatening. Arkansas State Police are currently investigating the cause of the accident.”
Around 5:00 p.m. Thursday, Smith’s wife Cindy, posted on her Facebook page about her husband’s accident. She posted that he was transferred to UAMS [the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences] and was being very well taken care of. “He has some fractures in his neck and spine that they are concerned about and have done some more scans before they allow him to move.
“He was ejected from the car and on impact in caused a pretty bad
laceration to his right ear. They thought they might have to do
surgery for repair of it but God is good and they have decided it is
repairable without surgery. He does not have any brain trauma wither
which is a blessing.”
She continued, saying:
“I must say, if you do not believe in God, then just look at this
entire incident. Kevin should not be here at this moment…God literally
had his hand around him as he was ejected and even after. As I came
into the ER room with Kevin at UAMS I was reminded just how much God
cares about the details. On the nurse assignment board in the ER room
this scripture was written in the board Isaiah 41:10! Thankful for
Gods hand of protection and blessings on our lives! I know a lot of
you have text and called and we are so overwhelmed by your love. I
will try to post updates as I can.”
