They claim Arkansas is the “least patriotic” state in the United States!
According to Fox News, researchers with the group WalletHub claim Arkansas is the “least patriotic” state in America. They claim that Arkansans don’t volunteer enough. However, one detail is quietly ignored in their study that makes the whole thing misinformation! Fact-checkers with a group called Partisan Watch has even exposed Wallet Hub’s flawed research practices regarding Arkansas!
Study Targeting Arkansas’ Patriotism Is Flawed
Analyst Cassandra Happe of WalletHub claimed that patriotism is based on volunteering and
“The most patriotic states have a lot of residents who serve or have served in the armed forces, high voter turnouts during elections and a high share of the population volunteering with national and local organizations.”
WalletHub then revealed that Arkansas ranked 50th for patriotism… which is obliviously insane.
Activist Group Exposes WalletHub’s Partisan Quacks
Activist group Partisan Watch has revealed the key problems with WalletHub’s research.
According to Partisan Watch, the reason the research is bogus is because it randomly associates patriotism with random acts. For instance. the authors of their past papers claim that military personnel who served “between 2014 & 2019” are three times more patriotic than “veterans.”
“It’s painfully obvious that these researchers are purposely proposing a warped definition of patriotism, which most Americans are unlikely to recognize as even remotely accurate, to advance a political cause. The researchers revealed their own biases in their biographies, and their goal is hardly difficult to decipher.”
WalletHub also seems to ignore the following facts that skew their data. Namely, the fact that Arkansas is one of the leading homes of veterans in the state:
- According to World Population Review, Arkansas is the top 13th state in America that homes Vietnam veterans.
- Arkansas ranks 18th in America for being home to the most veterans, too.
Meanwhile, this is seemingly brushed under the rug because WalletHub conflates shallow “activism” with patriotism.
This seems to be a pattern with Wallet Hub. They’ve released similar studies in 2022 as well.

We have 2 children who have retired from the military, a Master Sergeant and a Chief Master Sergeant, from the Air Force. Their daughters are all in the military, National Guard, Air Force (Captain), 2 West Point grads (Lieutenant and Captain), and we are very proud of all of them. This family’s patriotism goes well beyond this and it offends those of us in Arkansas that still shed a tear when the National Anthem is played and the flag is raised. So maybe Wallet Hub can spend their time more wisely, than trashing patriotic Arkansans.
