A health emergency for the state of Arkansas?
According to THV11, multiple viruses are reportedly spreading across the state of Arkansas in an unusual health event. Even the hot weather isn’t bringing viruses down as expected.
Viruses Are Spreading Despite Hot Weather This Summer
Dr. Joshua Lyon from All For Kids Pediatrician said he still sees many patients with respiratory viruses, like COVID-19 and pneumonia.
“About half of our kids come in with respiratory illnesses,” Lyon said. “Usually, we do one breathing treatment a week in the summer, but now we’re doing two or three a day.”
Despite the hot weather, these viruses are spreading across Arkansas. Which is unusual.
Mother Michael Howard took her daughters to the park on Wednesday, but one got sick and went home early.
“We keep passing the illness to each other,” said Howard. “We have fevers, sinus issues, and it’s affecting our chests.” THV11 says this is only part of a larger trend in the state.
