The World Championship Chocolate Gravy Cookoff just visited Searcy, Arkansas.

The popular event ran out of biscuits long before it finished at 11 am.  Thankfully, one local vendor was selling homemade sourdough bread so people could use that instead of going hungry.

World Championship Chocolate Gravy Cookoff In Searcy

The World Championship Chocolate Gravy Cookoff took place in downtown, Searcy. It started at 9 am on May 4th.

Multiple cooks bring their chocolate gravy downtown and let the public eat it for free. The public gets a chance to vote on the most delicious gravy!

According to the official rules, there are 3 $500 cash prizes and trophies for the following categories:

  • People’s Choice
  • Amateur
  • Professional

Thankfully, it appears to have been a wild success.

Everyone who attended was allowed to have free chocolate biscuits and gravy. It’s no surprise they ran out of biscuits!

The food was a perfect example of southern food that makes Arkansas such a tourist destination.

One vendor, Joe Sledge, was selling homemade “Sour Joe” Bread. The homemade bread went perfectly with homemade chocolate gravy!
