According to KATV, Arkansas State Police are cracking down on seat belt visibility. They’re searching for anyone not buckled up and will reportedly be accepting no excuses.

They’re On The Lookout

Arkansas Public Safety Secretary Colonel Mike Hagar says it’s not about safety, it’s about following the law:

“It’s not just a safe thing to do — it’s the law. During the Click It or Ticket campaign, the law enforcement community will be working to ensure the message gets out to drivers and passengers. Injuries and lost lives can be prevented by simply wearing a seat belt.”

According to recent data, nearly 18% of Arkansas citizens don’t wear a seatbelt.

Thankfully, seatbelt usage seems to be increasing over the years in the state. A fairly recent report states Arkansas increased seat belt usage by 14% in over 10 years.
