It’s official.

Security Requested At The Arkansas Capitol
In a new letter to state lawmakers, Arkansas Secretary of State John Thurston requested 34 new State Capitol Police officers to be hired.
The State Capitol Police officers would provide security in the Arch Ford Education buildings and the Winthrop Rockefeller Building. Both locations are located near the State Capitol.
The new hires would be double what the security number is currently.
It’s Also Happening On A National Level
Get ready. Because this is a trend that is also happening nationwide.
According to Arkansas Advocate, U.S. Capitol Police in Washington D.C. are also beefing up security. The 2024 presidential election is expected to test security protocols.
U.S. Capitol Police Chief J. Thomas Manger says they’re getting ready for a civil disturbance:
“I will tell you that the National Guard is terrific. But what I really need is trained, equipped law enforcement officers, who are trained in crowd control, civil disturbance. And, again, if we need it, we will have thousands of those on our campus.”
