DESCRIPTION:The Ozark Gateway Tourist Council will host the 7th Annual Ozark Gateway Golf Tournament on Saturday\, May 17\, at the scenic Cherokee Village South Course in Cherokee Village. \nThe 4-person scramble has become a popular fundraiser for the council\, a nonprofit organization that promotes tourism\, and relocation in Fulton\, Independence\, Izard\, Jackson\, Lawrence\, Randolph\, Sharp and Stone counties in north-central Arkansas. \nRegistration opens at 8 a.m.\, followed by a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The winners will be announced at 3 p.m. Fee is $300 per team\, which includes entry into the tournament\, breakfast pastries\, lunch\, and access to various prizes and contests. \n“We encourage golfers of all ages and skill levels to come out and enjoy the beauty of the Ozark Gateway region\,” said Cathy Drew\, executive director of the Ozark Gateway Tourist Council. \nGolfers can look forward to special hole contests throughout the day\, each offering a $20 prize. DESCRIPTION:The heart of Bald Knob will be beating with hometown pride next weekend as Homefest returns to downtown for two full days of celebration on May 9 and 10\, 2025. Hosted by the Bald Knob Chamber of Commerce\, this annual festival showcases the unique spirit of the region “where the Ozarks meet the Delta.” \nThe festivities begin Friday evening at 6:00 PM with a community-centered Gospel Night\, featuring performances by local talents including Ethen Moore\, Jett Butler\, Landon Crawford\, Audra Moore\, New Beginnings\, Rescued\, and the After Hours Band. The evening opens with a welcome ceremony\, national anthem\, prayer\, and the pledge of allegiance. \nSaturday promises a full day of events starting at dawn with the Rotary Pancake Breakfast at the Methodist Church from 6:00 AM to 9:30 AM. The beloved Homefest Parade rolls through town at 10:00 AM\, with floats and marching groups lining up at the school beginning at 9:15 AM. \nParade entries are still needed\, and organizers are calling on schools\, clubs\, churches\, and community members to get involved and show their hometown pride. There’s also still room for entries in the popular Car Show\, and food truck vendors are encouraged to apply as well. \nFollowing the parade\, the community will gather for another patriotic opening ceremony\, with the national anthem performed by Callie McGillvray. Entertainment continues throughout the day on stage with performances from Paetyn Ellis\, Wyatt Wallace\, and The Legendary Pacers\, culminating in a headline show from the Aaron Owens Band at 8:00 PM. \nHomefest isn’t just about music — it’s a family affair. Kids can enjoy the Kid’s Zone sponsored by the Bald Knob Fire Department\, while pet lovers can show off their four-legged friends at the Dog Show. Other highlights include a strawberry eating contest\, a cake auction\, and a cornhole tournament on Market Street at 3:00 PM.
