Izard County STEM School Students Earn Top Honors at Livestock Judging Camp

Students from Izard County STEM School recently showcased their livestock evaluation talents at the University of Arkansas–Rich Mountain Livestock Judging Camp, earning several top honors during the camp’s final-day contest.

The students spent several days sharpening livestock judging and oral reasons skills while learning from agriculture industry professionals. The camp focused on helping participants improve their ability to evaluate livestock and confidently communicate their decisions.

Maddie Tanner earned multiple honors including 2nd High Individual in Cattle, 3rd High Individual in Sheep and Goats, and 2nd High Individual in Reasons. Tanner also placed 3rd Overall High Individual and received a $500 scholarship.

Akynna Nielsen earned 2nd High Individual in Swine and finished 4th Overall High Individual.

Charleigh Barnes earned 3rd High Individual in Cattle in the Beginner Division.

School officials also recognized Addie for continuing to invest time and effort into developing livestock judging skills and representing Izard County STEM School with excellence.

Educators say the future remains bright for the school’s livestock evaluation program and agriculture education opportunities.
