A man wanted out of Texas on serious sex crime charges has been arrested in Izard County Arkansas.

According to the Izard County Sheriff’s Office, deputies took David Charles Jones, 55, of Melbourne Arkansas, into custody on April 11, 2026.

Authorities say Jones was wanted out of Montague County Texas on a warrant issued March 31, 2026, for sexual abuse of a child.

Law enforcement officials received information from Arkansas State Police that Jones could be traveling in a Chevrolet truck along Highway 9 south of Melbourne Arkansas.

Deputies located the vehicle near the Twin Creek area before it turned onto Mt. Olive Road, where a traffic stop was conducted.

Jones was detained without incident while deputies awaited confirmation of the out-of-state warrant.

After confirmation, he was taken into custody and transported to the Izard County Jail, where he is currently being held pending extradition to Montague County Texas.

Officials say the case highlights continued cooperation between Arkansas and Texas law enforcement agencies.
