The Searcy Water Utilities, in collaboration with the Searcy Police Department, announced a smoke testing initiative on social media. Inspection crews will survey the wastewater collection system over the next few days. It’s just an attempt to find breaks in the sewer lines using smoke.

The testing aims to locate breaks and defects in sewer lines using non-toxic smoke. Residents are advised not to be alarmed if smoke appears, as it poses no fire hazard.
Homeowners with seldom-used drains should pour a gallon of water to prevent smoke entry. Field crews will test all sewers in the area without entering residences.
