A citizen’s controlled burn, started without a permit, reportedly caused the fire. They were reportedly unaware of the city’s rules, despite a burn ban in Washington and Benton Counties.

Burning within city limits requires a permit, per the Springdale Fire Department. Applications are available online or at their Fire Administration offices.

The permit is free, but you must follow burning regulations. The department stresses this to prevent future incidents.

The regional burn ban remains in place, the department noted. Permits don’t exempt anyone from county restrictions.
