A loud noise was heard near Fairfield Bay, Arkansas on March 24th sometime around 2:00pm.

It was likely a sonic boom.

Multiple people across the county say they they heard a loud noise followed by windows shaking. It was even caught on camera during the city council meeting in Fairfield Bay

“Sonic Boom” Reportedly Heard Around Van Buren County

Several people, including Shirley and Fairfield Bay report hearing an explosion rocking their homes.

Lake Area Weekly, broadcasting a Fairfield Bay city council meeting live online, announced at around 20 minutes into the meeting:

“Just had a sonic boom.”

The commotion led to people walking outside for a temporary interruption of the meeting. However, it was quickly brought to order. Planes were spotted overhead after the noise occurred.

Several citizens in the area said they heard the noise at their homes in different areas.
