Possible “Medical Emergency” At Searcy Walmart Reportedly Leads To Significant Drug Discovery

A woman has been charged with smuggling contraband into jail. She was officially booked by law enforcement on January 6th.

She’s been booked on new charges recently after an initial arrest that happened weeks ago.

It all started when a routine welfare check at a local Walmart turned into a drug-related arrest a number of days ago at Searcy Walmart Supercenter. The call turned serious when police started asking questions and got even worse after the suspect was transported to the jailhouse.

Walmart Visit By Police Turns Even More Serious

According to documents, staff at the Walmart Supercenter on East Race Avenue called police after noticing a woman, later identified as Brittany Star Smith, sitting unsteadily near the dog food section for an extended period of time.

Walmart’s local Asset Protection Manager expressed concerns over the woman’s safety, fearing she might fall and injure herself. An officer responded to the call, finding Smith appearing unsteady on her feet and admitting to being “stoned.”

Smith was arrested for public intoxication after her condition became evident. During a search of her belongings, officers discovered a device used for smoking marijuana, escalating the situation from a welfare check to a criminal matter.

After they transported her to jail, it got even worse.

Despite initially denying possession of illegal substances, Smith was landed into more serious trouble when a small container with what was believed to be marijuana fell from Smith’s possessions, leading to further inspection.

Subsequent searches revealed more drugs including methamphetamine and Hydrocodone.

The discovery of these substances led to additional charges against Smith, transforming a simple welfare check into a significant possible drug bust.

Please remember that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
