An arrest has been made near Batesville, Arkansas after a meth dealing operation was reportedly busted out of a local camper.
Independence County Sheriff’s Office confirms that Christopher L. Nichols, 36, was arrested following an investigation by the 16th and 3rd District Drug Task Forces. He faces charges for the delivery of crystal methamphetamine.
The transactions were reportedly captured on audio and video by an informant who busted the alleged operation.
Man Arrested By Task Force Near Batesville, Arkansas
On January 18, 2025, Christopher Lee Nichols, a 38-year-old male from Cave City, was arrested by the Independence County Sheriff’s Department in Batesville, Arkansas. His booking number is IDCO-7769-01-25. Nichols was charged with:
- Delivery of Methamphetamine or Cocaine =>2g <10g (for offenses committed on or after July 27, 2011).
- Delivery of Methamphetamine or Cocaine <2g (also for offenses on or after July 27, 2011).
- Maintaining a Drug Premise.
His bond was set at $50,000.
What Happened In The Case
According to case documents, the investigation involved two controlled buys, one off-site and another at Nichols’ residence on Sunset Ridge Road. In both instances, Nichols allegedly sold meth to a confidential informant.
The first buy resulted in Nichols allegedly handing over more than two but less than ten grams of meth, leading to charges of a Class B felony. The second transaction involved less than two grams, resulting in a Class C felony charge.
In addition to drug distribution, Nichols is charged with maintaining a drug premises, also a Class C felony. Each charge carries potential prison time and significant fines upon conviction.
Evidence from these transactions was field-tested and confirmed to be methamphetamine. Both transactions were captured on audio and video by the informant.
