The following information was contained in the police report released by the sheriff’s office.
On November 3, 2024, a pursuit began on School Road in Batesville when a dark-colored SUV drove erratically in front of Sgt. Zachary Spohr.
The chase escalated as the vehicle refused to stop for Deputy Malloy despite her activated emergency lights.
During the high-speed chase, the suspect showed disregard for safety, driving left of center and failing to signal turns.
In an attempt to stop the vehicle, Deputy Smith set up spike strips, but the suspect maneuvered through a ditch to avoid them.
The pursuit concluded in Newark when Rodney Vance was apprehended after his vehicle came to a stop, revealing various pills during a search.
