According to the National Weather Service, a whopping 49 tornados have been counted in Arkansas in 2024 alone. This makes 2024 near the top of the list of most tornadoes in a year. And the year is not even over!
Winds Of Change Set Disturbing Record
Arkansas has experienced a turbulent year with 49 tornadoes recorded so far in 2024. The most intense of these were three EF3 tornadoes that devastated areas on May 26th.
The remnants of Hurricane Beryl on July 8th spawned an additional 10 tornadoes across the state, adding to the chaos.
The most recent tornado, an EF2, struck Little Flock in Benton County on November 4th, marking a continued active tornado season.
In 2024, 49 tornadoes have been counted in Arkansas. The strongest tornadoes (3 of them rated EF3) were on May 26th. On July 8th, the remnants of Hurricane Beryl were responsible for 10 tornadoes.
